Tarek was born into a family of travelers and activists and has spent much of his early years working with youth political organizations and exploring the world on cross-cultural adventures. Tarek is an alumni of Franklin University Switzerland where he received a B.A. in Political Science and Communications and a minor in Environmental Studies, a graduate of the National Outdoor Leadership School, the Wilderness Awareness School, and the International School of Temple Arts.
He first began guiding in Guatemala working as a transformational travel leader, creating spiritual road trips throughout Central America, deepening people’s connection towards themselves, humanity, and nature. This experience eventually led him to co-creating an off-grid community and educational event space called Heartland located in Northern California and becoming an active member working within the global festival community.
Currently based in Washington State, he works as the Program Development Manager for Rite of Passage Journeys, creating nature-based coming of age journeys for youth. He believes journeys into the wilderness, transformational festival culture, holistic sexuality, and conscious traveling are important ways to awaken our truest selves and shift humanity toward living lives of genuine meaning, truth, healing, service, purpose, and celebration of life.
